For those of you who are not familiar with certain terms and customs of Orthodox Jews, I’ve compiled here a glossary and some background information, that might help you when any of my blog-posts references it.
Shabbat. The Hebrew word for the Jewish Sabbath. This is the period that starts at Friday sundown and ends after nightfall on Saturday. During this period, Orthodox Jews in general withhold from any work or creative activities, and specifically do not activate or directly use electrical devices. That’s right – once a week, no screens of any sort for an entire day!
